New Students...
If you're just starting college there are a few basic steps to ensure that your admission to DBC is a smooth one. It is suggested that you complete this process at least six (6) weeks before the first term in which you plan to enroll to avoid registration related holds and to ensure that all documentation has been processed prior to your attempts to register. - Submit an application for admission, either online or download the printable version; submit official, final high school transcripts or GED scores in a sealed envelope from issuing institution.
- Apply for financial aid. The priority application period is in April/May prior to the start of classes, but late application are always accepted. Processing takes 3-4 weeks, and should be completed as soon as college enrollment is contemplated.
- Complete New Student Orientation online. All new students pursuing a degree or certificate program need to complete the orientation requirement prior to registration.
- Complete placement requirements. All new students admitted to a degree or certificate program must complete assessment requirements. The College Placement Test (CPT – College Board Accuplacer) is the assessment used for Associate Degree programs. You can take a practice test to refresh your skills. For more information click here: http://go.dbc.edu/assessment/CPT.html. Students entering a Certificate Programs are assessed using the TABE (Test of Adult Basic Education). For more information and to review sample questions, please click here: http://go.dbc.edu/admissions/placementtest.html. You can satisfy these test requirements if you document acceptable achievement using SAT or ACT scores which are less than two years old.
