The Role Of the Ombudsperson The role and scope of the Ombudsperson is that of student advocate; each campus has a Counselor who is assigned as Ombudsperson. Typical issues that the Ombudsperson (student advocate) would handle are the following: - Problem situations of a sensitive nature - Complaints about a course/instructor/policy/or procedure - Student/faculty mis-communication or mis-understanding - Appeals that have been denied - Explanation of the College Grievance Policy - Referrals from a Campus Dean, Judicial Affairs, Vice- President of Student Development, or a faculty member that have not been resolved at the lowest level
